Rivers Coalition in Cambodia sent Joint statement to Thai Prime Minister to Cancel the Power Purchase Agreement and to Lao government to stop all construction activity until further studies

The Rivers Coalition in Cambodia (RCC) have recently sent out a Joint statement  to Thai and Lao government regarding the Xayaburi Dam. The main object to urge the Thai government to decisively to act to stop this project by cancelling the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) and to order to CH Karnchange to stop all construction activity until further studies.
The RCC also urge the Thai  and Lao governments to respect the 1995 Mekong Agreement and the requests by Cambodia and Vietnamese government to urgently half all construction activities for the Xayabouri Dam, either preparatory or on the dam itself, until all necessary studies are carried out and full public consultation, particularly with the people whose livelihoods are dependent on the Mekong River and the Tonle Sap River and who will be the most affected by this proposed dam, are held in a participatory, transparent, and accountable manner.
